ScanJig provides easy tactile positioning of both smart devices and documents for correct focus, alignment and field of view. After scanning a document, text is recognized far more accurately and the visually impaired hear the content with less errors. The product design also helps avoid shadows, optimizes ambient light and captures great images.

Some scanner apps take advantage of smart phone features such as a camera flash and vibrate to help the visually impaired capture better images. Many tablets do not have these features but they are not needed when using the ScanJig scan stand. This new approach makes it easier to use tablets for image capture and text-to-speech conversion.
